For a long time, I did exactly what society told me to do. I earned my MBA in 1990 and climbed the traditional ladder, believing that success was defined by my job title, my status, and the house I lived in.
Then, the floor fell out.
I hit rock bottom when I lost my job, and shortly after, my significant other was diagnosed with terminal cancer. In the wake of that loss and uncertainty, I was haunted by one question: Who was I if I wasn’t my job?
I realized that while my education was valuable, it hadn’t prepared me for the “death and blooming” of a real life. I had bought into a societal promise that couldn’t sustain me. This crisis became my catalyst. I realized that while the outer world is important, a strong inner foundation is a necessity.
The Journey of the Lotus
My rebranding of this practice to Padma Life Coaching in 2011 reflected this realization. Padma is the Sanskrit word for Lotus – a flower that must push through the mud to bloom.
My own healing journey took me through deep studies of astrology, metaphysics, Eastern philosophy, and native healing techniques. And I’ve learned that healing isn’t a destination; it is a continuous cycle. Like the lotus, we bloom, we die back, and we bloom again.
